The Wine and Harvest Festival is looking for entries for our parade to hit the streets of Paw Paw on Sunday, September 7, to make this parade the best Paw Paw has ever hosted.

Keep in mind that this is a "festival parade". If you do not wish to be part of the judging contest, we still ask that your entry still look festive!

ATTENTION:

Line-up begins at 10:00 am at the Paw Paw Middle School
Please arrive prior to noon, as streets are closed in preparation for the parade.

Entries are placed randomly throughout the parade including political entries.

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this year’s St. Julian Festival Parade, we look forward to new and exciting things to make this event a great success. There will be a judging contest that will be voting for the best “themed” parade entry for 2014.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

The Paw Paw Village and Department of Public Safety Officials request that you DO NOT throw candy or other items from the floats, cars or other parade units. Candy or other items may be passed out by individuals walking along side of the parade.

DEADLINE FOR PARADE ENTRIES IS AUGUST 30. NO EXCEPTIONS.

33rd Annual Vineyard Classic Bicycle Tour

3 Routes:

22 miles, 39 miles and 60 miles

The Vineyard Classic is part if the Paw Paw Wine and Harvest Festival. On Sunday, there are many events in and around the Paw Paw area, with arts and crafts, winery tours, entertainment, grape stomping and the St. Julian Festival Parade. This tour travels past lush vineyards and orchards at the peak of harvest season. Cyclists pass by woodlands, rivers, lakes and neighboring Villages.  Starting location is the Van Buren County Human Services Building, north of Lakeview Community Hospital at 801 Hazen Street. Registration is from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, with the tour starting 8:00 - 9:00. Sag support with radio crew, route maps, road markings, first aid and refreshment stops are provided.

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. Waiver of liability must be signed the day of the tour.

PRE-REGISTRATION VINEYARD CLASSIC 2014 MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN August 12, 2014.

COST of the tour is $15 each, Children under 12 free when with an adult. After August 12, registration is $20

Mark your calendars for this fast, flat USATF-certified 5k course around Maple Lake. Our race has been endorsed by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports and is also part of the87th Annual Challenge Fitness - Michigan Fruit Belt Series.

Sponsored by Red Arrow Ministries and will benefit the Salvation Army which will keep all monies right here in Van Buren County.

2014 Coca Cola Grape Stomp

Preliminaries on Saturday, September 6th

Wine and Harvest Festival Map

You and four of your friends climb into a vat of grapes and stomp for two minutes. The juice, which pours out of a drain at the bottom of the vat, is weighed and recorded. The six highest weights in each category return on Sunday for the official stomp-off competition.

Total prize purse of $1,310!

Cash prizes are awarded to the top three places in each category.

Coca Cola Grape Stomp Rules

The Wine & Harvest Festival Activities are family oriented and the rules are as follows:

1. The team captain will be notified of preliminary stomp time the first week of September. The schedule cannot be completed until all applications are received, so please do not call prior to September 4, 2014.

2. Please verify your category when signing in. Checks for winners in the Charity and Student Stomp categories will be issued to the organization designated on the entry form.

3. Stomping consists of two timed minutes. Five persons or less to a team.

4. ONLY juice, not pulp, produced by stomping will be weighed and recorded. The highest weights produced in each category on Saturday will qualify for Sunday’s finals. In the case of rain on Sunday, the prizes will be paid out according to Saturday’s weights.

5. Team captains are responsible for bringing the juice to the weigh station, filtering the juice, and verifying the weight with the judges.

6. Team captain or team representative must be present at the 4:30 pm Saturday drawing for Sunday’s final stomp positions. If a team representative is not present, Grape Stomp officials will draw for the team’s position.

7. Intoxicated participants will not be allowed to participate. Use of alcohol is strictly prohibited.

8. Throwing grapes or juice will result in disqualification.

9. Please refrain from vulgarity and profanity.

10. No artificial aids either on hands or feet. Bare feet and hands only. We do suggest that you use pads on your knees.

11. No refunds.

12. Student Stomp: Students are required to show their student identification.

It is recommended that all jewelry or breakables be removed before stomping. We appreciate your participation. Thank you for helping make the festival a success!
